Smartphones, tablets and other modern gadgets are fast replacing the traditional equipment that once used to be the defining feature of our homes. As the world advances further into the new realms of technological innovation, the number of people use smart devices is increasing like never before.

Many developed countries, and some developing countries as well, are now very much familiar with the idea of using smartphones that have replaced the traditional form of mobile phones. They provide not only calling features but a lot of other luxuries that even have shadowed the progress of personal computers.

Researches show that many countries with big markets provide a lucrative ground for global smartphone manufacturers that could sell their devices to a large number of consumers very much keen on buying smartphones. But still there is a very large portion of population in these markets that is not aware of how to use smartphones.

However, we have an interesting fact to report in this matter. A recent research released by Google and IPSOS Research shows the percentage of population using smartphone in any country. Any guesses as to who would be leading the race? No it is not the U.S., U.K. or China. In fact it is Singapore that is leading the race and smartphones in the country has attained 62 per cent penetration.

The second in the race is also a surprising name. It is Australia that is ranked second in terms of global smartphone penetration with 37 per cent of people owing one. Although the number of people in the U.S. and the U.K. using smartphones is greater than Australia, the latter is ranked second based on the percentage of people using smartphones.

This is certainly a surprising fact for international and local experts who have now got no other option but to admit of Australia’s love affair with smartphones. As posted by A Faster Future:

“There are interesting implications for business as well, with 49 percent of Australians using their smartphones to research businesses, with a quarter having purchased products via their mobile. One fifth will also take their smartphone with them to research goods and services while they are out shopping. And 19 percent of Australians search for local suppliers and services using their mobile on a daily basis.

“Australians are also the most proficient users of mobile banking, with 48 percent of smartphone owners using their devices to do their banking.”
