Canadian telecommunications giant Bell Canada Enterprises (BCE) has announced that they are expanding their huge LTE network. The latest expansion project sheds coverage on Medicine Hat, Alberta. Although the area is home to a mere 61,000 residents, the coverage appears to be solid particularly at the city’s core. It remains to be seen how areas further outside the city’s core will fare.
According to Bell, Long Term Evolution (LTE) speeds can reach up to 75 Mbps however the average download range is a much more modest 12-25 Mbps.
With the latest expansion, Bell’s LTE coverage now services several of Canada’s major cities including Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary and Hamilton. All in all 17 million Canadians have access to Bell’s LTE network coverage, a solid total that seems destined to grow.
