Apart from bringing in new apps to its BlackBerry 10 platform, BlackBerry is also looking to introduce some unique services as well in order to make itself different from others firms. Therefore BlackBerry has recently formed a partnership with the international digital music distributor of independent and upcoming musicians, Zimbalam, that will enable unsigned musicians to sell their music content through BlackBerry World app store in “an easy and efficient way”. Explaining the new partnership, BlackBerry said that Zimbalam will use its “expansive distribution network and custom technologies” to enable the independent artists so they will be able to put their music content on BlackBerry World and sell it across the entire globe.

To track the daily sales report of the artists this platform will also provide a dashboard to musicians. However, to avail the service musicians have to pay a “small distribution fee” to the Waterloo-based company, but artists will remain independent and free plus they will get 90 percent of their royalties from the sales of music content.

On this occasion CEO of Zimbalam, Denis Ladegaillerie said that, “Zimbalam exists in order to allow unsigned artists to get their music on to digital music stores and to find their audience. We are excited to be working with BlackBerry as it will give artists access to a different fan base and help with the discovery of their music.”

BlackBerry’s Vice President for Global Alliances and Business Development, Martyn Mallick explained it as: “Whether you’re an independent artist, label or simply a customer who loves to create music, Zimbalam through BlackBerry World will be a fantastic vehicle to share your music with the world.”

In brief, this was a great moment for both companies, especially for BlackBerry, as the Canadian smartphone manufacturer has left no stone unturned in its quest to make the latest BB10 software and hardware a hit ecosystem. Given that it’s previous handsets and OS struggled to compete against the rivals, the company finally launched BB10  to bounce back in the smartphone market by snatching the lost share back from Android powered devices and Apple’s iPhone.

Due to this reason, BlackBerry is not only focusing on increasing the number of apps over BlackBerry World, but the Canadian company also wishes to offer different services as compared so it can become a unique platform and lure more and more customers with every passing day.
