After impressing with the Z10 smartphone, BlackBerry has captured attention of many new users, but nothing beats the old style for which the Canadian company is renowned. Its physical keyboard has always been appreciated by the smartphone users and their wait to get hands on the new smartphone with physical keyboard is about to over as pre-orders for the Q10 have begun in the U.K., the first destination where the Z10 was launched earlier this year.
According to The Telegraph, the Q10 smartphone will be available for £36 per month on a two-year contract or SIM-free for £579.95.
BlackBerry launched the two new smartphones – Z10 and Q10 – earlier this year, but only Z10 was made available in the market initially. After more than two months, when the company has also released its report for the quarter, the Q10 smartphone is set to hit markets globally now.
Interestingly, BlackBerry was able to post relatively better figures in the quarter, against expectations of many analysts, and the company hopes to build on the momentum with the Q10 smartphone. It is of the view that since the Z10 was able to impress and attract new users the Q10 will also do the same and might bring back some old users of BlackBerry.
Nevertheless, it is essential for the company to see the Q10 attaining success in all markets. In the competitive smartphone industry, it is not easy for BlackBerry to get to the top in presence of Apple and Samsung that have collectively dominated the smartphone market. Moreover, BlackBerry has started facing competition from other companies including Nokia that has joined hands with Microsoft and using its operating system.
It should be noted that BlackBerry as a brand gained success primarily because of the physical keyboard feature that it offered in its smartphones. In the light of the give scenario where the Z10 despite having virtual keyboard has received good response from the market, the Q10 is expected to do even better. Telegraph quoted Graham Stapleton, chief operating officer at Carphone Warehouse:
“The new BlackBerry Q10 takes everything that’s great about the recently launched BlackBerry Z10 and adds a physical QWERTY keyboard – perfect for users who still prefer the physical push of a button when using their devices.”
