The rumour that Apple is readying an iWatch is not breaking news anymore because stories related to this alleged product from the California-based company have been reported in the Wall Street Journal and New York Times. Now Bloomberg has decided to take this story forward and the newspaper reports on February 12 that the Cupertino company had acquired the services of 100 product designers, who are working on a wristwatch like product that might perform a number of computing tasks as well, but more importantly this project is progressing swiftly.
Here are the exact words of Bloomberg’s report:
“Apple Inc. has a team of about 100 product designers working on a wristwatch-like device that may perform some of the computing tasks now handled by the iPhone and iPad, two people familiar with the company’s plans said.
The team, which has grown in the past year, includes managers, members of the marketing group and software and hardware engineers who previously worked on the iPhone and iPad, said the people, who asked not to be named because the plans are private. The team’s size suggests Apple is beyond the experimentation phase in its development, said the people.”
To add more credibility to their report Bloomberg has also added the names of two managers, who are a part of this iWatch project. These two managers are Achim Pantfoerder and James Foster. Of these two, Foster is a subordinate to Head of Chips and Wireless, Bob Mansfield, who according to the previous claims is interested in wearable technologies. However, still this information is not enough to prove that Apple is really working on an iWatch project because all sorts of information is whirling around at this point in time.
Nevertheless, many will say that where there is smoke there is a fire and it is because of this very reason today even the alleged specs of Apple’s iWatch are out. According to Gottabemobile the specs for iWatch would allow its owners to connect it with their iPhone via Bluetooth “to push notifications and share connectivity, and would ship with built-in apps including; Weather, Voice memo,Clock Faces, iPod, App Store, Calendar, Reminders, Messages, Alarm and Stocks. In this iWatch concept there would be a special iWatch app store with new apps.
The watch would feature complete iOS notification center integration, control Bluetooth calls and music as well as handle text messages. This concept also includes a small camera which would likely allow users to take and make Facetime calls from the iWatch, without the need to take their iPhone out.”
