According to a latest research conducted by Brazilian e-Commerce Chamber, Mobile-commerce is swiftly growing in Brazil. The study showed a five percent increase in online commerce in the country during 2012 by representing 10 percent of all shopping in comparison to 5 percent during 2011.  The founders of PicPay, a mobile payment startup, must have recognized this potential in M-commerce that is why they have proposed a simple value to the Brazilians through their new startup.

PicPay allows Brazilians to simply scan a QR code with the help of their mobile phone or tablet camera, if they want to make an online purchase. To do so, consumers first need to download the mobile app PicPay and then save their credit card details in it, after which the process is as smooth as the name of this startup.

Moreover, PicPay is available for both iOS and Android powered devices, so the majority of consumers can easily use this service. There is slight catch in in that despite being a global name, the application of this mobile payment startup comes in Portuguese only. As far as the codes are concerned they can be added in printed ads, TV commercials and digital content.

Explaining about PicPay, Anderson Chamon, co-founder of this startup said that their venture relies on the connectivity of mobile cameras and on the call for immediacy.

“With our solution, advertisers can now insert codes in their online and offline campaigns, which PicPay readers decode through the camera, while exponentially increasing immediate conversion rates. With PicPay, the companies do not only improve engagement with their audience, but they let them make purchase at the exact time they are reached by media actions.”

So far PicPay has raised $1.2 million from its investors. These funds came from its co-founders and anonymous angel backers, whereas its existing users list includes names like Kanui, Perfumagi and Fluir. On the other hand to boost its adoption, PicPay is now looking to include a retailer signup page to its website.
