On October 30, Google stated in an official blog post that it was taking out its Chrome Remote Desktop feature from Beta. The screen sharing app was built for Google’s awesome Chrome web browser and lets users share their desktops with others over the internet. This lets people view documents, presentations or even remotely helps caring users fix computer problems for relatives. Google has also given the Chrome Remote Desktop a few more bells and whistles including the ability for Windows users to have live audio feeds. The team working on the Chrome Remote Desktop has promised not to stop adding new features and claim they will make the tool “even more powerful” moving forward.

Unlike most other Chrome apps, the screen sharing feature from Google requires a helper program to also be installed. The feature can be used with Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems and the helpful and easy to understand prompts guide user through the entire installation process. The ease of use continues even after the app is installed and most users will not find it any more difficult to use the Chrome feature than others. In order to share the desktop all a user needs to do is share a code with the other person in order to work on the desktop remotely. According to TechCrunch the quality of the feature is fairly good and it is comparable to other competing services.

The timing of Chrome Remote Desktop’s move out of beta is also very interesting. Google has made sure that users that buy the new Samsung Chrome Book can access their PC’s at home and use the new Google device on the go. On their blog post, the California based tech giant stated that, “Chrome Remote Desktop is a great companion tool for your new Samsung Chromebook, allowing you to remote into your PC or Mac at home while you bring your portable and easy-to use Chromebook with you on the go.”
