It’s not a hidden secret anymore that BlackBerry is struggling in the smartphone business, as the Waterloo-based company has officially made it known that it is considering all options, which includes selling the company or issuing an IPO to bring in new investment. However, since BlackBerry is considered the pride of Canada, the government of the country is also keeping a “close eye” on it due to its poor financial situation. But this does not mean that the Canadian government is going to rescue BlackBerry by stepping in. The local Minister of Industry James Moore clearly said in his latest statement that although times are really tough for BlackBerry, it will be up to the troubled smartphone maker to fix their problems.

Here is what the Canadian Minister of Industry, James Moore has said, “This is a Canadian company with a long track record of stirring up innovation and important changes in the products we all use. They employ a great number of Canadians. It’s been a source of Canadian pride and we hope that they do well. I know that they’re facing their challenges and they’re adjusting their firm internally in the way that best suits their interests. And all I can say is, we wish them well, and we’re keeping a close eye on the situation.”

Since a large number of people in Canada work at BlackBerry and now the company is cutting jobs in order to improve its earnings by slashing expenses so a statement from Canadian government related to the troubled smartphone producer was not a surprise, simply because no government would like to see their citizens getting unemployed so swiftly. On the other hand, BlackBerry did make an attempt to bonus back in the smartphone market, by launching its latest BlackBerry 10 hardware and software at the start of this year. However, unfortunately none of the three BlackBerry 10 handsets, Z10, Q10 and entry-level Q5, has been able to generate excellent sales for the company.

Therefore, now after declaring loss in the third quarter of 2013 BlackBerry’s board has decided to consider all options. Although BlackBerry has yet to introduce its fourth much anticipated BB10 device and first 5-inch smartphone, the Aristo Z30 or A10, from which CEO Thorsten Heins and his team has lot of expectations. In fact, Heins has said earlier in a statement that there he is very excited about a new upcoming device of BlackBerry. Let’s see whether Aristo will be able to turn around things for BlackBerry, as currently future does not look too bright for the Canadian company.
