Canadian Social Search Engine Wajam Sees Exponential Growth

Canadian startup Wajam has released a new end of the year video that highlights the technology ventures many achievements in 2012.  The 2012 Year in Review video claims that Wajam started off the year with several hundred people downloading the search engine every day. This number has jumped enormously and the company now has thousands of users downloading the social search engine every day.The company has grown to include 28 staff memebers and increased its user base “exponentially month after month.” According to Wajam, its search engine has indexed nine billion pieces of content on social networks.

 

The startup has also been racking up a number of awards since its got started. The latest one is the Red Herring Top 100 Global award which only two Canadian firms received in 2012. The list is a compilation of the 100 most promising technology companies that have been selected from a global pool.

 

Wajam got started in 2009 and adds a social search to a users favorite search engine. Basically your social network is used to grab relevant information when you search online. This gives you the power to harness the knowledge of your friends, families and other circles.  A user can search multiple social networks that they use from just one location as the Wajam plugin works with Google, Yahoo and Bing.
