BlackBerry has made a comeback in Canada with the launch of its latest BlackBerry 10 software and hardware, as its brand new smartphone, the all-touch Z10 and physical QWERTY keyboard enabled Q10, were warmly greeted by users. Moreover, this list of users not only includes individuals it also includes enterprise clients too with one single enterprise customer ordering one million Z10 units which have once again pushed the revenue of BlackBerry into the positive zone. Later Toronto-based Canadian Tire declared that it would buy “thousands” of BlackBerry 10 devices for their employees “in the coming months.” This was indeed a great feat for BlackBerry considering the fact that it has lost a majority of its smartphone market share to other platforms. On top of this it’s good to see a Canadian company opting for another Canadian company’s products. Recently, CTO of Canadian Tire, Eugene Roman was also found praising the new BlackBerry 10 device, according to ComputerWorld’s report.
Roman loved everything about the latest BlackBerry smartphone whether it’s the design, security, battery life or the BlackBerry Balance. According to the report the CTO said that “With 10 to 12 hours of battery life, that’s double of every other device we’ve tried… It’s efficient on the network and still has good security. The battery life is the winner. I have a couple of iPhones, but I can’t live on them.”
However, in contrast to the all-touch Z10, a majority of the employees at Canadian Tire are looking to have a physical QWERTY keyboard Q10 smartphone. In fact, Roman himself was also bit hesitant in having an all-touch Z10, as he had used BlackBerry Bold in the past. He said, “I told them you’d have to pry the Bold from my cold dead hands, since it has served me extremely well, but the Q10 does it one better.”
Nevertheless, at the end of the day it does not matter, which BlackBerry handset a majority of the employees at Canadian Tire will opt for, as what really matters for the Waterloo-based company is securing more contracts like this in order to further boost its revenue in the next quarter. If this pace continues the firm could become the third best platform after iOS and Android.
Moreover, it will also be interesting to see how the sales of BlackBerry Q10 will affect the overall revenue of the Canadian smartphone manufacturer when it will announce its second quarter results after a couple of months.
