Music attracts everyone; one might not like a particular genre, but it is hard to totally stay away from music and its effects. Music companies release audio and video tapes and issue subscription to grant access to their products, but the presence of many free platforms to listen music has hurt the business of these companies.
A recent study in Canada showed the same trend as most people who enjoy listening music prefer accessing it for free. Vancouver Sun published a story from The Canadian Press mentioning the study and claimed that most people use YouTube to listen and share videos and music. The story presented the results of the study:
“About one in three poll respondents said they were very or somewhat likely to subscribe to a free online music service, while just 17 per cent said they would likely pay a monthly fee for a subscription-based service.”
The study also mentioned that smartphone users in the country are more inclined towards availing streaming facilities, but most of them, too, want the service for free. This is not just the case in Canada. In fact users in nearly every part of the world try to gain free access to the facilities they desire. In order to deal with this situation many companies have started offering free services, but on a limited basis. They provide free service for a certain period and then ask users to get subscription if they want to keep availing the facilities. They are of the view that people would love to pay if the services cater their needs. Some of them get impressed and pay the fee, while the others just start looking for other free platforms.
