For those Canadians with multiple Apple devices, take some time to rejoice. Apple recently announced that they would be allowing their users in 38 countries including Canada and the UK to store and access movies purchased on iTunes on the iCloud. This will allow Canadians to watch films and TV shows of their choosing on their iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac devices.
This extends what Apple currently offers on the iCloud, which automatically saves music, apps, books and now video files for easy download and access from any internet enabled Apple device. Currently, the service has only been available in the U.S., with the company first announcing in in March of this year.
A fair deal of iTunes movies and TV shows are now available in full 1080p and HD, making them high quality. The move is seen as a full court press against rival firms Amazon and Google, who are aggressively trying to get into television and iTunes type products with things like Google Play.
The main sticking point in the case of movies has been in securing the rights to offer them for sale and subsequently cloud based storage from the major film studios. Apple says that they have done so for all 38 countries that now have the ability to save their iTunes movies to the cloud.
This is a great day for Apple owners who are also fans of film.
