Tim Cook, CEO of technology giant Apple, has stated quite clearly int he past that his company considers China as a very vital market. Cook is quoted as saying that, “China is a very important market for us and customers there cannot wait to get their hands on Apple products”. It is no surprise then that after launching the initial edition of iPad Mini in China, Apple is now bringing the cellular and Wi-Fi editions of the mini slate and the fourth generation iPad to this part of the world with in the week. The California based tech maker made the announcement on Monday, January 14, 2013 in their press release that the cellular and Wi-Fi editions of iPad Mini and fourth generation iPad will be made available for sale from Friday, January 18, 2013. The entry-level (16GB models) cellular and Wi-Fi enabled iPad Mini and fourth gen iPad will be offered to Chinese consumers at $459 and $629, respectively.
The two devices are making their debut in China after already being sold in over 100 countries across the globe.
However, when the first iPad Mini that was launched in China during previous month, it was not well received by Chinese who had lined up in droves to purchase the popular iPhone 5 smartphone that sold more than 200 million units in the country by the first week.
As the reports indicated the 7.9 inch iPad Mini failed to attract Chinese buyers and that lines were “nearly nonexistent”, even in the highly trafficed venues like Appleās flagship store in Beijing.
