Announcing this initiative while unveiling Google’s new Toronto office creates another strong bridge between businesses in the Waterloo region and downtown Toronto, continuing our long record of collaboration between both regions.”
As a result of this announcement the two companies will soon open a new venue for digital collaboration where the hosting and counseling of start-ups will take place in Communitech’s Hyperdrive initiative ($30 million plus incubator plan), thereby serving as a vital part of early stage interaction.
This new venue is likely to be located between Google’s Kitchener-Waterloo office and Hyperdrive work places and will be used to hook up Canadian startups with the Google Developer Network, Google’s Global Entrepreneurial Network and startup initiatives across the globe.
Moreover, to boost the number of young and successful start-ups in the Waterloo Region, Google will act as mentors and technical advisors as well as staff the mind melding venue on a daily basis to assist start-ups working with Communitech.
Klugman said that, “We hope this collaboration will be a model for future partnerships and continue to support and enrich the vibrant tech startup community here in Ontario”.
