Eastlink’s wireless network was supposed to launch in the mid of 2011 but after delays hit the project it is now finally ready to connect Canadians the with rest of the world as early as February 15. With this news the long wait for the wireless network that Eastlink promised to provide its customers is now about to be over. However, it took this organization a lot of time to make the wireless network available in the country. In spite of this there is excitement in the air, as Canadians finally got a set date for the launch of Eastlink’s new service. Talking about the delay in the launch of their wireless network last year, CEO of Eastlink, Lee Bragg had said, “There’s no first to market advantage for us, we’re not in a big panic. We really want to do this right.”
Eastlink is actually a part of Martime that owns and operate companies offering a variety of communication services to both residential and business customers in Canada. However, the main business of Eastlink is the continuous maintenance and development of a broadband network, which give its customers access to the internet, cable TV and other related services.
Located in the Province of Nova Scotia, which is also home to famous Canadian smartphone maker BlackBerry, Eastlink’s new wireless network will give local businesses and residents another option. Moreover, the addition of this new network will ignite competition among the local wireless service providers and as a result of that consumers will get low-priced plans and services.
However, so far Eastlink has not announced which type of plans they will offer to their customers and whether it will be like Wind Mobility’s independent style or more like big telecom companies such as Rogers and Bell’s packages or fall somewhere close to SaskTel. Nothing is for certain at this point in time, but one thing is for sure that customers will get to save lot of money, as promised by the carrier.
Nevertheless to know Eastlink’s actual plans Canadians have to wait a bit, as there is some time left in the launch of the network after which Eastlink’s customers will be able to purchase telephone, internet and TV bundles. Initially the service will be made available in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Later the organization will spread its wings by offering it to more sites through out the country.
