Ebay has kicked off its search for 2013’s Entrepreneur of the Year. For nine years in a row the IT Giant has been distributing Entrepreneur of the Year Awards and it will be interesting to see who the lucky winners are in this year’s edition. Experts believe the programme is designed to highlight inspiring success stories in the business world. People with innovative ideas from across the globe can enter the competition under various categories.
According to techvibes.com, Ebay is reintroducing the Home preneur and Young preneur categories this year. Under the Young preneur category, sellers under the age of 29 who use family resources to achieve success in their careers will be allowed to participate in the competition. the “Home-preneur” category is for sellers who use home resources and family members to reach the top.
“More and more Canadians are buying goods online and supporting a new wave of Canadian business,” says Andrea Stairs, country director for eBay Canada. “Ebay is looking for examples of great Canadian entrepreneurial innovation and creativity, and by showcasing this year’s winners, we hope to inspire more Canadians to start selling online. Along with bragging rights, the Entrepreneur of the Year will win $3,000 and the Young-preneur of the Year and Home-preneur of the Year will each receive $2,000. All three winners will also enjoy promotion of their eBay business to more than two-million online buyers, according to the online auction site. Entries must be received by midnight EST on August 12. Winners will be announced during Canadian Small Business Month in October”, reported techvibes.com.
“Last year, a Canadian sold an item approximately every two seconds on eBay Canada. In Canada, eBay was visited by more than 7.9 million Canadians in May 2013”, the website further claimed.
Recent studies have shown that more and more Canadians are showing interest in buying and selling goods online. Right now, Ebay is looking to identify a successful example of Canadian creativity and innovation. Ebay is also interested in inspiring more people to start online businesses by showcasing this year’s winners.
The winner will receive $3000 along with other prices. Winners of Home Preneur and Young Preneur of the Year Award will be given $2000 each along with other benefits. All three winners will be allows to market their business to more than two million ebay users free of cost.
