Canadian and American investors injected $1 million into Edmonton based file sharing and moving platform Mover. The one year old firm aims to provide users with a swift method to store and move data. The hassle of carrying heavy equipment and accessories to carry one’s data is a thing of the past according to Mover’s representatives. Mover provides a platform through which consumers can easily save their data and access it anywhere they want. Its complex algorithms allow the data to be safely accessible and stored in Mover’s databases and hard drives.

Canadian firm Mover has received funding from various investors that include Amplify, Medra Capital, Yaletown Venture Partners, Dennis Phelps, Double M partners, Rick Barry of Quant Ventures and angel investors like Jarl Mohn.

The Canadian startup got a major boost from the Growlab incubator and claims that the storage management market should grow into a $50 billion industry in the future. One of the investors in the firm, Eric Bukovinsky of Yaletown Venture Partners, stated that, “The integration of cloud services is at a key tipping point and we believe Mover can establish itself as a core building block of cloud data management”.

Mark Fossen, co-founder and CIO of the startup also commented on the occasion and said, “After the initial wave of cloud adoption the concept of data gravity, where the more data a company has the harder it is to move, is a growing concern for new and incumbent cloud storage users.”

Eric Warnke, CEO and cofounder of Mover, added that, “We are very pleased to have such a strong group of investors. This financing enables us to accelerate our efforts as a market leader in solving enterprise-sized data migration problems.”

According to TechVibes, “Mover has transferred more than 300 million files since its inception less than one year ago and performs close to 5,000 transfers each day.”
