Epson has joined up with two Canadian startups in order to boost its OmniLink solutions strength. The announcement of its latest partnering took place at the National Retail Federation 102nd Annual Convention on January 14, 2013, when Vancouver-based RewardLoop and Epson declared that the RewardLoop rewards platform and mobile loyalty program will now be available on the OmniLink smart POS solutions family.

RewardLoop basically focuses on cloud hosting and mobile rewards programs that are based on transactions. Whereas, OmniLink offers cloud-based services, web-based printing through mobile devices and open platform mobility by combining PC functionality with a Epson POS printer. This association will allow RewardLoop to pair up with OmniLink to deliver a “universal, plug-and-play mobile loyalty and rewards solution on virtually any existing POS system or cash register with no need for upgrades to existing software,” according to the company.

Explaining the partnership, Director of Marketing for Epson’s Business Systems Division, Gregg Brunnick said that, “Retailers are looking for innovative ways to connect with shoppers via mobile devices. With RewardLoop, retailers can start using smartphone-based loyalty and rewards quickly and easily today – and evolve their solution when they’re ready to move to NFC-based programs of the future.”

CEO at RewardLoop, Jeff LaPorte added that, “With Epson’s OmniLink solutions, we can offer our platform seamlessly, easily and cost-effectively. With this solution, retailers can cost effectively transition to a digital loyalty program and also gain needed real time insight into their customer base that will help them grow their business. Our goal is to bring retailers closer to customers through technology.”

Epson created a second partnership with Livelenz that provides immediate consumer and operational analytics for both the hospitality and retail segments.

CEO of Livelenz, Joel Doherty, stated that, “We’ve been up and running at several Moe’s Southwest Grill locations for more than a year now. With our platform in place, Moe’s has realized measurable financial returns through operational improvements, upsell opportunities and labor cost reductions. With Epson’s OmniLink, retailers gain all the features and functionality of real-time data analytics – without updating their current POS systems. Even the oldest legacy systems are supported, and getting started is fast, easy and cost effective.”

Director of Marketing for Epson’s Business Systems Division, Gregg Brunnick said, “We’ve been working with Livelenz for a couple of years. Our efforts have resulted in retailers gaining access to a new data gateway for comprehensive web-based data analytics, and we’ve seen the results. This solution can truly transform a business.”
