Montreal-based Wajam, a search engine that gives you more personalised results of your search, believes that Facebook’s new graph search has validated the work it has been doing.

Facebook has recently introduced a new search feature that enables users to get more personal outcome of their search involving the experience of their connections. For example, a person searching for a place to hang out will not only get location of the place but also the knowledge of how many of their connections have been to that place and what do they think of it.

Still in the testing phase, this new graph search is available for only a few users, and the entire Facebook database will get this service soon. More or less the same work has been done by Wajam that lets users get recommendations from their friends and connections about the topic of their search.

In a blog post recently, marketing manager of Wajam, Alain Wong, said of the impact of Facebook’s new search feature on Wajam:

“Simply put, the launch of Graph Search validates what we are doing here at Wajam, which is to help you search through content that your friends share with you every day.”

Wajam also enables users to search for recommendations from a particular social platform. For example, users can filter their search results in the light of recommendations from their Facebook Twitter or/and other social network connections. Wong further said about the two services:

“Both of these services are great within their own platforms, but Wajam takes the idea one step further by giving you recommendations from your friends on many other websites and also third party applications on your mobile phone. In effect, we enhance your search experience by bringing these great social platforms to you when you need it.”
