Facebook has introduced a new service allowing its users to send gifts to their connections using “Facebook Card” that will be delivered to the people who are selected to receive the gift through a mail. The approach of physically providing gifts seems to be a big and gutsy step from Facebook that has joined hands with some retailers to make this project a success. According to the Facebook newsroom:

“People can give their friends gifts to Jamba Juice, Olive Garden, Sephora, and Target all on one reusable gift card from Facebook.”

It is not difficult to send gifts. A user just has to select a gift and purchase it. The person who is to receive the gift will be notified instantly, but they will get the Facebook Card later via mail. On receiving the Facebook Card, the person can use it at the selected retailer.

Another notable feature of the card is that it is reusable, meaning you can use the same card to buy more than one gifts. The process is explained as:

“After you’ve received a card, the next time you get a Facebook Card gift, it will instantly be added to your existing card. Your card can hold multiple gift balances, and each balance is dedicated to the retailer associated with the gift. For example, you might have gift balances of $100 at Sephora, $75 at Target, $50 at Olive Garden, and $8.25 at Jamba Juice.”

It is easy to check the balance as well. One only has to go to their account settings to check the remaining balance. Facebook will also send a notification online in case of change in balance.
