Children will have a new and interesting way of learning this year as two app makers, Mindshapes from the UK and Fingerprint from San Francisco, have joined hands to launch “Appisodes”, a digital learning platform involving games and storytelling for kids.

Mindshapes is an educational app maker targeting children from age 2 to 12, while Fingerprint focuses more on games and playing. The partnership of these two entities is expected to bring an innovative experience to the children who can enjoy learning while having fun, a method that always gets positive results when it comes to learning and education.

The “Appisodes” will feature various stories for kids’ learning, while the game element will be incorporated within these stories so as to keep the readers glued to the text. Mindshapes constantly studies behaviour of kids and design their apps based on the fresh data with respect to children psychology.

Fingerprint CEO Nancy MacIntyre is of the view that the integration of two ideas (game experience into stories) will be “wonderful for everybody”. She said of the partnership:

“The Mindshapes team has created a variety of very successful game apps as well as book apps, so they’re taking the best practices and the child behaviour they’ve been seeing from both their games business and their books business and really blending those two experiences together in a way that’s super unique and engaging.”

Highlighting variations between children’s priorities, she said:

“Some kids are driven by the story, and others are driven by the games, so we think this approach will be wonderful for everybody.”

Fingerprint and Mindshapes will launch five “Appisodes” in 2013.
