20 million people use Flipboard to get their content fix and now they may be able to buy the goods that they see in the service’s digital catalogues. The two-year old Flipboard has grown quickly with its app that lets users read and navigate content from publishers in a touch screen friendly environment.

Another major feature of the Flipboard app is its ability to showcase personal social networking accounts in a glossy magazine fashion. The app organizes the entire user’s content and social news feeds on the main page in a manner that makes it easy to browse using touch. The latest offering is the ability to view the latest Levi’s catalogue and then select an item to purchase. The entire “New Levi’s Collection” can be bought from within the application.

Flipboard has been rapidly adding features and platforms to become one of the most popular apps in their category. The application is available for most mobile devices including ones that run iOS, Android and the iPad. They recently added a video feature to give users the ability to get even more content from one location. The latest attempt from Flipboard looks like a method to try and change the way users shop on mobile devices. The company may be looking to cash on its large base of users to attract companies that would like to sell using their platform.

The app has been very successful at luring large publishers like Wired and The New Yorker to their platform. Now it seems that they will be targeting retailers who will be waiting to see how the Levis campaign runs and what kind of results they achieve. Some observers assumed that Flipboard would be taking some sort of percentage from Levis for the products being sold through its app but in a clarification issued by Flipboard that did not seem to be the case. Instead, the company shares revenue from advertisements with Levis. The exact details of this deal are not known.
