In an attempt to recruit teams for their next program, FounderFuel accelerator is hitting the road to visit various Canadian cities and meet people with ideas, and conduct road shows. The potential start-ups for the FounderFuel program will have a chance to personally meet the team members, managers and mentors.

As per the schedule, the FounderFuel team will visit Montreal (January 21), Halifax (January 22), Ottawa (January 23), Waterloo (January 24), Quebec City (January 28), and Toronto (January 30).

Out of a number of applications, only 20 are selected for the 12-week program by the end of which the teams get a chance to present their ideas in front of the investors and get an opportunity to attract funding for their proposed project. Apart from getting monetary support for their respective projects, the applicants also receive assistance in terms of logistics, networking and other components necessary for success of a business.

The visits to these cities will help both parties as the FounderFuel team will be able to directly answer questions of the people interested in applying, while the team itself will get to asses and evaluate those applicants. General Manager Ian Jeffrey said of these visits:

“We really like these events and I think it’s a great opportunity whether they’re convinced about FounderFuel or not. I think something like a roadshow makes sense because we get to spend some time with the teams for a couple of hours, hangout and have a couple beers.”

FounderFuel is not the only accelerator in Canada, a number of other entities have started similar projects, presenting the applicants a number of platforms to test their chances. Jeffrey is of the view that applicants should apply in all the programs they can, and must not rely only on application.
