Toronto based startup FreshBooks’ founder Mike McDerment has made it known that his online invoicing software has now got five million users.

This is a remarkable achievement by FreshBooks considering the fact that its start was pretty ordinary, as McDerment admitted that his startup had only 10 customers in its first year from whom he got just $10. The invoice software is now being used in different parts of the world by freelancers, agencies, professionals and businesses. For the reason that it also offers countless other features related to invoicing like expense tracking, online payment collection, time tracking, recurring billing and it can also mail invoices via support tickets and U.S. postal service.

However, it took FreshBooks a long time to achieve this magical figure, as it was founded back in 2003, when McDerment used to work as a freelancer in the basement of his parent’s home. That was the time when McDerment felt the need for a defined and prompt invoicing solution, which finally led him to the development of this online software.

Now its five million user base has jointly invoiced $8 billion during this year as told by McDerment that enabled him to earn way more than $10 which he had got from this venture in its first year.

In addition to this, FreshBooks has also increased its work force that is now over 100 employees. With the help of these employees this Toronto based company has made its operation more prompt and smooth. It is because of this reason today, FreshBooks user base spans over 120 countries in the world.
