The demand of Sony Playstation 4 has exceeded to more than 1 million pre-orders around the globe, said the head of Sony SCE computer entertainment division on Tuesday. Sony has announced that they their new Sony Playstation 4 console will be available from November 15 in North America and from November 29 in Europe, according to the SCE Chief Executive Andrew House.
“The response we have received is nothing short of incredible,” he said at a news conference on the sidelines of Gamescom, Europe’s biggest videogames fair. The console will recently be available in 32 countries worldwide during the holiday season so that children can fully enjoy their holidays.
The demand of Playstation has exceeded to 1 million pre-order that is much more from the expectation. A Sony spokesperson said: “It’s not to say that if you pre-order it now you won’t get it on day one, it’s just a precautionary guarantee, it has been a difficult message to get across.”
The retailers of the UK are in much stress because of pre-orders of Playstation 4 console as the demand of the console is much higher than the supply and according to the company many of the orders will receive their console as and when the company has sufficient inventory.
Meanwhile, the new Xbox one will be in the market in November, the date is still not confirmed, said Microsoft Corp. The price of Sony Playstation 4 is much lower than that of Xbox One by Microsoft. Sony has priced its first new console in seven years which is $100, while Microsoft has priced its first gaming console in eight years which is $399.
According to Microsoft the new Xbox One will dominate the entire market, because of its exclusive media content that will rule consumers’ living rooms. According to Microsoft Europe’s Vice President of Interactive Entertainment Chris Lewis Microsoft has booked unlimited pre-orders for Xbox One, but declined to give more details.
The retail prices of Sony Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita have also been cut in order to attract more customers. The cut has taken the retail prices to $199 and 199 Euros ($270) in the United States and in Europe, respectively. Playstation Vita before the price cut was 249 Euros, while the PlayStation 3 was 229 Euros.
