Finding definitions of words on the Google search engine is not a new feature, as users from all around globe have been using this trick for a long time. However, just like its other features Google has now updated its definition feature as well for both mobile and desktop users in order to give them more information regarding the word they were searching for and its definition. Besides this, Google’s search engine users will also be able to find sample sentences along with synonyms of the searched word that will show them how it is actually used. So the next time users will search for the definition of word “fortuitous” it will give them even more useful information than before along with its origin, synonyms, sample sentences, translation and more.
Besides these newly added features, Google has now also offered spoken responses on its Google Search app that will enable the users to hear the answers they have asked by simply tapping the microphone icon given at the side of the definition. For instance they can say “What’s the definition of fortuitous?” or “What are synonyms for fortuitous?”
Google has revealed about this update through a post over its Google+ page in which the search enging giant has explained the new features as:
“You may be familiar with using Google to find definitions, like [define fortuitous]. We’ve recently updated this feature on google.com on desktop and mobile to give you more information about these words beyond just their definition. Now you’ll also see sample sentences that highlight how the word is used, as well as synonyms. If you tap the microphone on your Google Search app, you’ll hear answers spoken back when you ask questions like “What’s the definition of fortuitous?” and “What are synonyms for fortuitous?”
Give it a whirl the next time you’re reading an article online and you stumble across an unfamiliar word. In addition, try translating words to one of 60+ languages directly from the box. When you select a language, future definition searches will consistently provide a translation to that same language.”
It is anticipated that perhaps Google has added the spoken response feature to support the latest flagship smartphone, the Moto X, of its very own Motorola Mobility. Given that the handset offers 24 hour on voice recognition feature to give its users a delightful hands free experience when they are busy driving a car or doing something else.
