Vancouver-based social media dashboard HootSuite announced the integration of Yammer into their service via their blog earlier this week. Yammer, which was acquired by Microsoft mere months ago and integrated into their upcoming upcoming Office 365 software suite is the leading provider of enterprise social network service.

The company, which launched in 2008 was acquired by Microsoft on July 19 of this year for a substantial $1.2 billion. Yammer has over 5 million corporate users, including the employees of 85% of the Fortune 500 workforce. The service allows for the sharing of content across various departments, working groups and international offices in a way that allows for collaboration and innovation.

According to the blog post, Yammer users will be able to monitor and reply to their Yammer conversations within HootSuite’s dashboard, making the integration seamless and in real time. Other features include the ability to follow and view all of your feed in the HootSuite application, notify colleagues with tagged updates,  as well as viewing likes, replies and attachments from various colleagues.

“The integration of Yammer demonstrates the increasing role of social collaboration in business. As companies grow, employees become increasingly decentralized from one another and rely on multiple tools like Yammer to work through and complete projects.” says Ryan Holmes, CEO of HootSuite.  “Use of social media continues to grow beyond marketing. We see departments including customer service, human resources, sales, public relations and research and development teams are looking to HootSuite for solutions to tackle collaboration problems.”
