Canadian startup, HootSuite is one of the fast emerging social media companies in the country,  now featuring more than 200 employees as compared to less than 100 in the previous year. On top of that, the company is still receiving near about 650 resumes each month as people strive to join the firm that is revolutionizing how people manage social media. Considering the growth rate and increasing number of employees it is a tremendous coup for Canada that HootSuite has dug out a deal with the City of Vancouver for a larger and better company headquarters.

The City of Vancouver has given this new office to HootSuite on lease as per the “innovative” agreement between the two parties that also includes an ownership option for the company. This new office located at 5 East 8th Avenue and is comprised of two stories. The building covers an area of more than 33,000 square feet and its value is close to $10 million.

HootSuite has been able to get a hold of this “innovative” agreement as it was a part of Vancouver’s Economic Action Strategy that is headed by Economic Commission of the City and Mayor George Robertson, who is focusing on the aim to attract and retain skillful talent related to the technology industry in Vancouver in order to accelerate growth in novel sectors.

As Mayor Robertson said, “Vancouver has a booming digital media sector, and there is no better example of that than HootSuite. The rapid growth of HootSuite provided us with a good-news challenge: how to accommodate a local company that is seeing rapid growth. I’m very pleased we could enable a deal that will see an expanded HootSuite head office in Vancouver.”

On the other hand, CEO of HootSuite, Ryan Holmes said, “Since we first started HootSuite in Railtown in 2008 as a part of Invoke, we’ve been proud to call Vancouver our home. The city’s digital media sector is strong and continues to grow, and we’re excited to have found a new location that allows us to stay and expand here. We’ve had strong support from the City and look forward to continuing to build out our Vancouver presence.”
