The popular Chinese smartphone maker Huawei is looking to outshine Apple and Samsung with the world’s slimmest smartphone, Ascend P6. The chairman of the company, Richard Yu, has recently said during an interview with Telegraph that Apple is “cool”, Samsung has the momentum, but his company is about to make it big in the market with their brand new handset. Huawei’s target is not only to retain a place among the top three mobile manufacturers of the world by 2015, but it is also looking to surpass Apple. Talking with Telegraph’s reporter Matt Warman, Huawei’s chairman send a clear and simple message to their rivals by saying that the only thing with which South Korean tech giant Samsung has been able to gain the momentum is money that the company has spent on its branding and marketing.

Yu also asserted that Samsung has built its success with vast market spending and exaggeration. He said, “In the high tier, if you have huge money to spend on marketing and branding, like Samsung, then everyone will buy that.”

“We don’t have so much money to do marketing and branding so we have to make our products better. The best smartphone in the past was from Nokia, then from Apple, then from Samsung. And who is number one? The industry is so dynamic – no matter how successful you are, if you’re currently number one, doesn’t mean tomorrow you’ll be number one

“Samsung, they have such huge money – if you invest in marketing and branding then people will always buy no matter how good the products are. The Samsung Galaxy S4 is just a so-so smartphone.”

According to the company head, regardless of the quality issues, consumers still purchase Samsung products. Speaking about Apple, Yu said that in his view the Cupertino-based company is sliding down and for Huawei this is the time to take-off and grab the place in the top three manufacturers, as he said “We want to go higher than them.”

Yu also said that, “In its latest update, Apple makes the phone extremely simple to use. But if we are just learning from them we can’t catch up, because they are now slipping. We want to go higher than them.”

Since at this point in time Huawei did not have the budget to surpass Apple and Samsung in branding, so the best solution for this problem is that the Chinese smartphone maker should come up with better devices, such as Ascend P6.
