There are a number of applications that by using Instagram trademark are getting success. Instagram is now getting serious in cracking down on other apps and services that are using its name and trademark. According to new rules, the apps or services with “Insta” or “Gram” in their names are not allowed to share photos or videos on Facebook.

Instagram is now taking serious steps to crack down the apps and services that are using its name, according to TechCrunch. The company has sent an email to the apps and companies that violate its policies, in order to solve this issue. In this email Instagram has requested these companies to change these components as soon as possible.

The company Luxogram is an example that is violating Instagram new policy by serving about more than 1 million users per month, TechCrunch says that, “the two new points that Instagram indicates that Luxogram is treading on are the fact that it uses “gram” in its name, and that (a highly customized variant of) the camera logo is being used.”

Instagram has clearly mentioned its new do and don’t guidelines on the website, according to which the brand name of Instgram cannot be used by other apps and services in a way that implies partnership, sponsorship, or endorsements. Also, the company doesn’t allow other apps or services to use any part of the brand with the name of Instagram, marks, designs, or generic terms.

Also, no one is allowed to copy the looks and feels of Instagram. These changes are a big surprise to some because Instagram used to allow other apps and services to take advantage of the name previously. The new policy guidelines of Instagram are somewhat similar to the policy guidelines of Twitter. The micro-blogging network last year restricted a number of apps and services that completely rely on this open platform.
