According to iphoneincanada.com, Apple Inc has hired an expert Nike consultant who is likely to develop their upcoming iphone watch. Jay Blahnik, who also played a key role in the success of sport’s giants Fuel Band despite fierce competition, twitted on his twitter account that he will be joining Apple Inc in the next few weeks. When people replied to confirm whether the move is actually going to take place, he responded, “Yes, it is true! A wonderful and exciting opportunity”.
“Say it isn’t so. Pardon me while I stick my thumb in my mouth, take to bed and weep to sad kelly clarkson songs”, he added
Although Apple has not made any official announcement regarding this, multiple sourced have confirmed the news that Blahnik will work full time on Apple’s iWatch project. Although Blahnik has worked for Nike in the past, he is currently a consultant to reputable fitness companies.
Sources have also revealed that Apple’s exec Bob Mansfield loves his fitness watch device and perhaps this is the reason why he is working full force and hiring staff with fitness background to turn the concept into reality. The watch is expected to be launched in late 2014 or early 2015.
“Back in July it was rumoured a key expert for Nike’s FuelBand had been hired by Apple, likely to play a role in the development of the rumoured iWatch. After posting their story covering Blahnik’s confirmation of his hire at Apple, the fitness expert again has deleted his tweets shown in the above screenshots, a similar moveafter July’s report, all but confirming his hire, again. Blahnik’s website says he ”travels 40 weeks each year across the globe speaking on health, fitness, wellness and motivation,” but it appears now he will be focused entirely at Apple”, iphoneincanada.com said.
“Jay has been a Nike Elite Athlete and Nike consultant for almost 20 years. He worked closely with Nike on the launch of Nike+Running, which has become the largest digital running community in the world. He was also the original creator and program developer of the Nike Training Club App, and the Nike Training Club in-gym program, which boasts over 6 million digital users. He is also a key expert and consultant for many of Nike’s new Digital Sport initiatives that launched in 2012, including Nike+ Kinect Training and Nike+ FuelBand”, said macrumors.com.
Looking at the current situation, it will not be surprising if Samsung and Sony also jump into smartwatch market before Apple even make the iWatch public.
