OUYA is not going to be the only Android powered gaming console that is going to hit the markets this year. Another such console with a much smaller gaming platform is gearing up to share the space with OUYA. This tiny Android based gaming console is called the GameStick and it’s a Kickstarter project by PlayJam, that is planning to ship it at a price of just $79, which is less than OUYA.

The GameStick is a TV based gaming console an is quite similar to a flash drive both in size and shape. Because of this super feature GameStick can easily fit into its own Bluetooth enabled gaming controller and receives power from the HDMI port just like the Streaming Stick from Roku.

The GameStick sports an Amlogic 8726-MX processor, 1GB RAM, runs on Jelly Bean and uses the cloud to store games. The developers of the console have pinpointed 200 games that they believe “will be great to play on GameStick.” In addition to this PlayJam is also “working with [a] network of over 250 developers, including great studios such as Madfinger, Hutch, Disney and others, to bring you the best line-up”.

Due to these fine features GameStick became a Kickstarter hit in no time, as it was able to achieve its $100,000 goal within two days. Since there are plenty of days left in the closure of the campaign, the company has decided to further stretch their goal.

At $320,000 backers will get the option to buy the GameStick in two colours, black or white. If the project gets to $450,000 the device will be produced in two more colors including red. The fourth color will be decided through a Facebook poll and if it manages to achieve $560,000 goal or above the buyers will get to see a MicroSD card slot in the console to expand its memory.

Besides this a new option of getting a clear carrying case for GameStick has also been offered to the buyers, if they spend $89 instead of $79.
