POP, a Kickstarter project that had gained $140,000 in an effort to produce a universal charger for different devices, including Apple products, did not get the green light from the iOS device maker when during last week it was shut down by late Steve Job’s company after it failed to meet the stringent guidelines for Lightning accessories.
However, according to the latest update, tables have once again turned favourably for POP, as unexpectedly Apple has modified its guidelines for Lightning based charging. This means that POP has once again received a green signal from the Cupertino company to continue its efforts to produce a universal charger.
The co-founder of POP, Jamie Siminoff shared this news with the 1,000 investors of this project through email, in which he noted that:
“As you know on Thursday we sent you an update that because of Apple’s rules around Lightning we would be canceling POP. The story got A LOT of news and reactions, way more than we could have ever imagined. In fact it became such big news that 24 hours after we posted Apple changed their guidelines for Lightning.
It was an incredible turn of events for us. We never could have imagined that we would be able to change Apple’s rules.
Based on Apple’s change we can make POP the way we had promised and the project is back on. We will not be processing refunds and are going full speed ahead to produce and deliver the product to you ASAP.”
POP was a hit Kickstarter project, as before getting shut down by Apple this venture gained around $140,000 from 1,000 investors, which was way more than its goal. So this is indeed great news for the 1,000 investors of this project, not matter whether it’s a lucky break or anything else.
