A new iOS application created by Face.com allows you to use your facebook contacts and more importantly their photos to instantly recognize and tag faces in all of your future photographs moving forward.

The application is currently in its beta form and is available for free download. The app immediately recognizes faces within a photograph and correlates that information to their profile with individual’s name appearing above their face on screen. If the person being photographed does not happen to be on your Facebook, the application is able to provide a list of suggested people based on the overall similarity in facial features. If the list does not return a successful match, you may search your contacts on Facebook to match the face and profile for all photos moving forward.

In order to familiarize the application with your friends’ faces, you are required to connect the application to your Facebook on your mobile device and allow the software to go to work. The app acts to analyze a plethora of facial features for each one of your contacts and associate the name and profile with each. Although extremely effective, the process can be time consuming based on the number of contacts you have.

In order to add to the overall app offering, once the photograph is taken several filters can be applied to the photo in order to personalize and alter it as you see fit. The filters are similar to those seen in many other apps including Instagr.am. Photographs can be easily uploaded to Facebook and Twitter for instant sharing. The app also has its own social aspect, allowing you to view and follow the photographs posted by your friends who are using the application as well.

Overall, the application is extremely easy to use and works as advertised, acting quickly and accurately to identify and tag the people in your photographs. As the application is used, it becomes more accurate and adapts as required to meet your needs based on corrections you make as well as photographs posted by others.
