Today there are several websites on the interweb that enable users to create or maintain their profile for professional purposes in order to expand their network, enhance their career and grow. Of these professional networking websites, LinkedIn currently ranks highest in terms of name recognition and popularity. While LinkedIn and other professional networking websites cater towards a predominantly white collar and office type of crowd, there has been a definite lack of a networking platform for creative artists.

Recognizing this void, a new startup from Toronto called konekt.me  is now looking to fill this gap. The site’s co-founders Jeffrey Howard, Neil Martin and Rares Crisan have designed this website to cater exclusively to creative professionals. This umbrella term includes the likes of musicians, actors, directors, photographers, writers or any person who expresses themselves through a creative medium, all of whom can create their profile and exhibit their work on konekt.me in an unencumbered format.

The networking website will allow users to add content to their profile within seconds and offers a bevy of fiel types including YouTube videos, SoundCloud clips or links to a website or blog (Tumblr) that showcases the user’s work. After this information is inputted, konekt.me automatically pushes this data in an organized and visually appealing layout, thereby making profile perusal a very enjoyable experience.

Aside from the aforementioned, user can also bundle their work into different collections on konekt.me itself. If they want to highlight various types of works, positions they have held or certain themes that inspire their projects, it can all be categorized and shared on the platform. Moreover, according to the three co-founders, these options provide a means to show as much work as they like without getting involved in the fuss of site designing.

In addition to this, Jeffrey Howard, Neil Martin and Rares Crisan also believe that konekt.me will be invaluably beneficial for creative professionals who do not have time to maintain a personal blog or have abandoned their own websites due to schedule demands.
