Canadians were expecting the launch of three Windows 8 phones during the month of November following the OS launch at the end of October. Rumours had swirled regarding the release dates of the HTC 8X, Nokia Lumia 920 and Samsung‘s offering, the ATIV S all being set to hit Canada by the middle of this month.
This rumour proved true to some extent, as two of these three devices, the Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC 8X were released over the past two weeks to considerable fanfare. However, the ATIV S failed to release up until now, which was surprising for Samsung fans in Canada, who were anxiously waiting to get their hands on this latest smartphone.
Due to this delayed launch, all sorts of rumours once again began to propagate regarding the Windows based phone from Samsung, many stating that the phone may not release until well into December. However, a leaked internal document from Roger has shed some light on the matter, revealing that Canadian dealers can place their orders for ATIV S on November 20 (“SKU open Nov 20″). This suggests that Samsung ATIV S would be available for sale in stores during a week or more and the possible date of its launch could be November 30.
But if the device fails to arrive in stores during a weeks time, there is a probability that this Windows based phone will makes its first appearance in December. As far as the price of the Samsung ATIV S is concerned, Rogers will be selling the smartphone for $149.99 on a 3 year contract, making it the most expensive Windows Phone 8 device in Canadian markets thus far. The documents of other carriers show the the retail price of theATIV S will be around $600.
