South Korean electronics manufacturer LG has finally rolled out the design and some specifications details of its forthcoming 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro phone plus tablet on its Facebook page. The first hybrid device from LG was in the news for the past couple of weeks and all sorts of rumours related to it were being reported online. However, now it is officially confirmed that LG is gearing up to challenge its fellow South Korean mobile maker Samsung that is ruling the phablet world with its awe-inspiring Galaxy Note II. The interesting part about this new device from LG is that it’s a beast when it comes to its specs as the 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro not only boasts a 1080p HD display, but it also sports curved glass in white or black, which according to the company gives a “2.5D” effect.

With the addition of curved glass, LG has certainly offered something new to mobile phone aficionados, which they had never experienced before. In addition to this, the 5.5-inch device also features a quad-core processor that would most probably be a Snapdragon S4 Pro. As far as the design of Optimus G Pro is concerned, its front is quite similar to Samsung Galaxy Note II because it has got the same round edges and screen button at the bottom, but from rear, it is similar to a Nexus 4. The famous Nexus 4 “digital-cube pattern” can also be seen on the back panel.

Nevertheless, it bears no similarities with Nexus 4 and Galaxy Note II when it comes to specs because rumour has it that the 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro incorporates a 13-megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM and its internal storage capacity is 32GB, besides having a HD display. To receive confirmation on these specs for the Optimus G Pro we have to wait a little because it is expected that LG is going to announce this device along with couple of other smartphones on February 25th during its big press meeting at 2013 Mobile World Conference in Barcelona. To the extent the launch of this hybrid device is concerned it is expected to hit the stores at the end of this February.

At this point in time, it hard to predict whether the LG Optimus G Pro will arrive on Canadian soil or not, because initially it is expected to be made available for sale in selected countries.
