After releasing the entry-level smartphones like L3, L5 and L7 the South Korean electronics manufacturer, LG has now introduced a new mid range smartphone Optimus L9 II, which is the second generation of its popular Optimus L9 handset. The Optimus L9 II surely looks quite stunning when it comes to its design. However, LG has taken most of its design cues from its high-end smartphone Optimus G Pro, but unlike the 5.5-inch device, Optimus L9 II boasts an inexpensive polycarbonate back cover instead of a glass backing. Moreover, the new smartphone is also low on specs as compared to the Optimus G Pro, but then again it’s a mid-level handset and to make it affordable LG has taken these measures.

The new Optimus L9 II sports a 4.7-inch 720p TrueIPS display along with a 1.4 GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel rear camera, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storing capacity that can be further boosted with a microSD card. Besides this, L9 II packs an IR blaster and 2150mAh battery that powers it for a long time. However, the slight negative point of L9 II is that it runs an older edition of Android OS, 4.1.2, which makes it little less appealing.

Considering the specs and features of LG G2 in mind, one was not expecting from the Korean company that it will introduce a mid-level smartphone with an old version of Android. But still Optimus L9 II seems like a decent smartphone if compared with other devices that fall in the same price category. As far as the exact date of release and pricing of the Optimus L9 II are concerned, currently LG has not shared any information yet, so now all we can do is just wait for the company to issue these details.

To the extent the launch of Optimus L9 II in Canada is concerned, nothing at this point in time can be said with surety because earlier LG did not release the predecessor of the smartphone in the country. However, since L3, L5 and L7 were made available by various Canadian wireless carriers therefore one can also expect to see them carry Optimus L9 II.

It is anticipated that LG may ship Optimus L9 II after G2, as the Korean manufacturer has announced the flagship device before the mid-range phone. More importantly to generate more sales it is necessary that LG should roll out G2 as soon as possible because September is month of big releases, when Apple is expected to launch iPhone 5S and 5C, while Samsung will announce Galaxy Note III along with Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
