The year 2013 started just two and a half months ago and in this short period a majority of the top smartphone manufacturers have unveiled their flagship devices, including Samsung that just launched the Galaxy S IV. Therefore, many thought that the next new smartphone they will see during this year would be either the next generation of Samsung’s phablet (Galaxy Note II) or Apple’s iPhone, but they missed one handset, the next Nexus phone from Google by LG. The current model of the Google Nexus phone by LG remained very successful and in fact the demand for the handset was so high that it became quite tough for the Korean manufacturer to supply it in huge numbers. As a result of that Google Nexus 4 has been listed as sold out in many stores across different countries. Now according to Android and Me, Google is looking to launch the next generation of Nexus 4 sometime around October in this year. Moreover, Google is currently assessing various prototypes from different manufacturers, which includes one from LG that is dubbed as “Megalodon.”
On top of it some specs of the purported “Megalodon” are also out now and they are quite praiseworthy, as the next gen phone is rumoured to pack a 5.2-inch 1920×1080 OLED display that would be backed by an extremely powerful 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM and 3300 mAh Lithium Polymer battery. In addition, the handset is reported to bear a whooping 16-megapixel rear camera by OmniVision that would be capable of shooting 4k videos. Plus there would be a 2.1-megapixel front camera with which users would be able to record 1080p videos. It is also believed that LG’s “Megalodon” would also have front mounted stereo speakers and Qualcomm RF360 (LTE 150 Mbps & HSPA+) connectivity. Rumour also has it that the next Nexus phone will be made available in 16/32/64GB storage capacities just like Apple’s iPhone and sport some kind of gesture-based features.
Considering these mammoth features, LG has given the prototype a perfect code name “Meglodon” that refers to an ancient shark which was bigger than today’s white shark. Therefore, it is expected that with the introduction of “Megalodon” Google may lead us to the next stage of war in the smartphone market. However, the only problem at this point in time is that whether a device known as “Megalodon” really exists because these rumoured specs surfaced online just 48 hours after the launch of Galaxy S IV so it could be a way to distract people’s attention from Samsung’s premium flagship device.
