Love Defines Personal Branding

Love and personal branding are two different concepts, but it is astonishing to see how they are interrelated. The methods we adopt to attain success in each of them are also quite similar to each other and if we pay a little more attention towards how we act in love we can certainly excel in personal branding as well and vice versa.

Dr. Amit Nagpal, a personal branding consultant, shares his observations about what love can tell us about personal branding. In his post at Business Grow, Dr. Nagpal advises clients to “Enlarge as a human being, Excel as a social media being and Evolve as a personal brand”.

According to him, the first lesson we learn about personal branding by falling in love is that both require sharing and caring. Here is what he tells us:

“There would be good and not so good phases for sure but you must keep making genuine attempt to fill the emotional and ego tanks of the other. Keep in mind, selfishness is our default setting but we have been ‘Empowered’ to change the settings.”

Just like love, branding, too, cannot be done single-handedly and we require a mindset that accepts collaboration. Furthermore, it is essential to identity the needs of the society you live in along with understanding human psychology and how it affects others. If you are able to succeed in it, you will be able to help people in realising their dreams. You will want to help your loved one grow. Much in the same way, you must be able to help the people you care about grow in their profession.

Dr. Nagpal asserts that effective communication is essential for love and personal branding. He says:

“Personal Branding is not a substitute for quality, but is rather a tool to communicate your quality as a person-your knowledge, skills and attitude (KSA). So first develop your KSAs and then demonstrate them wisely.”

Being in love makes you feel your commitment towards your loved one and the same goes with personal branding. You must know what your commitments are, and knowing them is just not enough; you must be able to fulfil all your commitments.

Observe and evaluate yourself rather than pointing fingers at others. If something goes wrong you will be able to tell what was your role in it and how you can make it correct. Last but not least, you must be passionate about what you do. You love someone so passionately that you might want to do everything for them. Branding also requires the same passion.
