According to The Huffington Post, 30 year old Ben Levi adapted a completely new approach to propose to his 24 year old Australian girlfriend, Melissa Swift Levi, who is a physiologist. Levi, who is a founder of a property management software company, is actually a diehard fan of the Angry Birds games and according to his girlfriend they both play the game incessantly, even when they are with friends or at night when they are lying in bed. Therefore, Levi decided to use a custom-built edition of Angry Birds game to propose. When the couple went to a bistro to celebrate their moving in together, Levi took advantage of the situation and gave his tablet to Swift and asked her to play the Angry Birds Friends game. When Swift started playing the game and reached level 3 the following words suddenly appeared on the screen “MARRY ME MEL” and stunned her.
Swift said, “I think I would have been less surprised had I seen a flying pig. I remember looking at it and not really comprehending what it meant. He was down on one knee and it just all fell into place and I just started crying. … It was just unbelievable.”
Talking to The Huffington Post, Levi said, “I wanted to do something special and really stun her. There’s not much I can do anymore that can surprise her, because she knows to expect ridiculous things.”
After the surprising proposal, Swift said, “It took Angry Birds to finally get him to propose. I love them. Nothing else would motivate him, but Angry Birds did it, so I’m forever grateful.”
However, it took the 30 year old boyfriend a lot of time to get this custom-built edition of Angry Birds Friends, as “on a whim, Levi had contacted Rovio, the Finland-based parent company of Angry Birds, with his proposal idea. To Levi’s surprise, he heard back from Rovio in January, and over the next several months, he worked with company representatives to design the game level and coordinate the proposal. Rovio arranged for hidden cameras to be set up at the restaurant,” to record the moment.
This was surely one unique way to propose to someone. If you are interested in seeing the Levi’s proposal message to Swift then, all you need to do is to play Angry Birds Friends game in one-week long tournament that it commencing from Monday, May 6th.
