Students can now gear up for another exciting learning and reading experience as McGraw-Hill has come up with an idea to launch an adaptive e-book that will guide the learners through different stages of reading and help them understand the text properly.
This SmartBook will be the same for every reader, but not for long. All the readers using the SmartBook will share the same reading experience, but after a few minutes the book will start adapting in such a way that every reader will find what is good for them.
Once a reader reads a text, they will be presented with a few review questions. Based on the answers of those questions, the book will highlight different paragraphs that must be read by the given individual so as to yield maximum benefits out of reading.
This will allow the readers to understand any given text more easily and retain the most important pieces of information in their minds. Brian Kibby, president of McGraw-Hill Education, said of the SmartBook:
“To revolutionize learning, you need to revolutionize reading. We’re focused on attacking graduation rates and getting results.”
No exact date has yet been given about the launch of the SmartBook, but the company expects to launch it in spring this year. The starting price of the SmartBook of around 90 courses will be $19.99.
The program will be available for both computers and tablets, and is seemingly a step in the right direction for those who want to capture the industry’s market share in the future. In the ever-changing technological world, reading trends have also changed and print form is not given priority all the time. The adaptive nature of the new e-book is certainly going to captivate the readers’ attention.
