Earlier this week, Samsung continued to generate positive hype for their product line with the unveiling of the very first Windows 8 smartphone at IFA Berlin. Known as the ATIV S, the device features a brushed aluminum frame and 4.8” 1280×720 pixel HD Super AMOLED screen.

The device is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core processor (Snapdragon S4) along with 1 GB of RAM, akin to the current Galaxy S III model do. The device also features a 1.9 MP front camera and 8 MP rear-facing camera to go along with a 2300mHa battery.

Not to be outdone by the Galaxy S III, the ATIV S features Bluetooth 3.0 NFC (near field communication) along with the same tap to share close proximity ability boasted by the Galaxy S III and Note II. The front screen is fashioned from Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2 with overall device thickness at 8.7mm.

Although there is no word yet regarding the availability of the device (launch date, country, carriers), Mashable has confirmed 16 or 32 GB of storage along with a sale date following Windows 8 October 26 launch.
