The first USB drive started selling in December 2000 and the storing capacity of that flash drive was just 8 MB. It may not seem like much now but at the time the storage capacity of the drive was successfully able to knock out the floppy disks. Floppy disks had five times less capacity for data storage when compared to the first flash drive. After that first milestone manufacturers have kept on improving the storage capacity of flash drives and by September 2011 USB drives of up to 256GB were available for use by consumers.

One of the leading names in the flash drive sector, Kingston, has introduced a whopping 1 terabyte (TB) USB drive. The privately held technology corporation unveiled this product at the 2013 International Consumers Electronic Show that took place in Las Vegas between January 8 and 11. This is the largest data traveller device that has been created so far and is called the Data Traveler Hyper X Predator 3.0.

The Data Traveler Hyper X Predator 3.0 not only has huge storing ability, but Kingston has designed it in a way that it can also read and write the data with super fast speed. Moreover, just like its predecessors, the Hyper X Predator 3.0 works like a simple plug and play USB drive. Therefore, users will not face any problems in using this huge data traveller device.

It is expected that Kingston will make this huge Hyper X Predator 3.0 flash drive available for sale in the Q1 of this year. There is no price tag for the new flash drive at the moment but many developers and users will be looking at the Kingston product to help in their storage needs pretty soon.
