Microsoft is going to launch the new version of Office (Office 2013) today (Jan 29), different media reports have suggested.
Microsoft announced last year that it would release the new Office product early this year and things seem to be going according to the plan for the company. Office 2013 is especially designed keeping in view the recent version of Windows, though it is not a Windows 8 app and will be operational on other versions of the operating system as well.
The new Office has a touch feature and while it will respond to keyboard commands and mouse clicks, it will also function when you touch the screen and swipe or zoom it. It will also have new versions of Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and OneNote. Also, Word will have a few additional features. A user can use touch to turn pages, while they can also stream videos within documents.
Microsoft is also going to offer subscriptions for the new Office. Previously, the users had to pay a one-time amount to use the Office products, but now they can subscribe the software that can be installed in up to five machines at a time. Subscription enables multiple users to connect through a cloud.
However, things will be slightly different for business users. The subscription will only be limited to one business user, though they can install the software in up to five machines. Meanwhile, the prices are reported to be $99.95 per year for a consumer and $149.99 for a business for the same duration.
