Hackers who been hitting some very large sites lately and they previously targeted California-based tech giant Apple and famous social media site Facebook. According to the latest update, they have also hacked into the system of another high profile company. Microsoft was the target this time and the world’s leading software developer made the attack public on Friday, February 22nd. The maker of the Windows operating system also stated that it has found proof of interruptions in its systems. The statement came from General Manager of Microsoft, Matt Thomlinson, who wrote in a Microsoft Security Response Centre blog post that “a small number of computers, including some in our Mac business unit” got infected due to the same type of malware that was pointed out in the attacks on other sites.

Thomlinson also stated that, “This type of cyber attack is no surprise to Microsoft and other companies that must grapple with determined and persistent adversaries. We continually re-evaluate our security posture and deploy additional people, processes, and technologies as necessary to help prevent future unauthorized access to our networks.”

This is the second time Mac systems have been exploited by hackers and one wonders if Microsoft was aware of this fact, why people at its Redmond office did not take any precautionary measures to avoid the attack. Thomlinson did not shed light on this subject in his blog post, but he dis write that an investigation is going on at this point in time and it seems that no data of customers was compromised during the cyber attack.

The round of hacking initially began from some top newspapers sites after which hackers first hit the popular micro-blogging website, Twitter. As a result of that assault, Twitter had to suffer a big loss because 250,000 accounts of the users were compromised. Then, it was Facebook’s turn to face the music, but it managed to avoid any big damage in spite of the fact that some of its employees got exposed to a site, which installed the malware on their systems.

And recently famous iOS device maker, Apple declared that hackers had breached into a “small number” of its computers. The company also announced that it was a Java vulnerability that Hackers had actually exploited and later Apple launched a software tool to sort the problem, so it can also avoid such attacks in the future.

The way hackers are making attacks on high-profile companies it appears that it may get worse if the companies, who became a victim of this hacking do not locate the hackers and stop them.
