Users of Apple Inc.’s iPad and iPhone have been waiting for the release of Microsoft Office applications that run on iOS powered devices for quite some time. Although thus far nothing tangible has popped up in the market, it has been learnt through the support listings of Microsoft that its Office version for iPad and iPhone is on the brink of completion. This is a great news for the users and fans of both mobile iOS devices and Microsoft Office.
So far, Microsoft seems to be completely comfortable with this leaked information through its web properties which clearly depicts that Excel and Powerpoint for iPad and Office Mobile for iPhone are in the process of completion. Moreover, this piece of information has also confirmed something that TNW reported earlier this year, mainly that “[Microsoft] will release versions of its Office applications for both Android and iOS early next year. These will support Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents.”
The aforementioned web properties of Microsoft did not specify anything about Microsoft Word for iPad that TNW has mentioned, but the source still believes that it is also in the pipeline and will soon hit the market. As far as the release of these Microsoft applications is concerned it is expected that iOS mobile devices will be able to land them sometime in the first quarter of 2013 and the subscribers of Office 365 might also be able to use these apps.
The worrisome thing for Microsoft will be setting the release of these Office apps for iOS users, because it can further weaken its Surface tablet sales, as it is only platform that support this productivity suite.
