Microsoft finally received some good news in its attempt to enter the tablet market that has been dominated by its long time competitor Apple. It was reported that Microsoft’s 128GB Surface Pro that hit the company’s online store on February 9 for $999, was completely sold out within just a few hours. The online store showed that it still had the 64GB version in stock. The 128GB Surface Pro may be available at physical locations and retailers but an online search by TechCrunch shows that the tablet is also not available anymore with sellers like Best Buy. Microsoft delivered the new Surface Pro for sale after it had released the Surface RT version a few months ago.The Surface Pro is powered by Intel and runs on the company’s latest Windows 8 operating system. The powerful tablet can run full versions of Windows desktop programs unlike the RT tablet. Many observers believed that the Pro version of the tablet had a lot more potential in the enterprise sector because it allowed users to access older files and not have to recreate every thing to suit the RT tablet.
That being said, when Microsoft out the 32GB Surface RT on sale for $500 it took only 24hours for their stock to sell out. Since the 128GB Surface Pro sold out so quickly even though it was a lot more expensive shows that buyers are looking for more storage along with the devices ability to do a lot of heavy lifting that the RT could not do. also the fact that buyers could get double the storage by paying only a $100 dollars more means that the 64GB version did not see as much demand.
The amount of storage that would be available on Surface Pro tablet had been debated before it was released by many interested parties. Many critics pointed at the memory guzzling Windows 8 installation as a major problem because it would not leave much room for private files on the tablet. However, those fear have been unfounded with the 128GB version which leave a tremendous amount of space for other files on the hard drive.
Canadian can still get the 128GB Surface Pro if they want because is currently available in Microsoft’s Canada online store. Users can also try getting the tablet from a retail location in Canada which will probably also have the new Windows 8 powered tablets on sale.
