Although news has been less than stellar for Canada’s largest west coast city and its game programming residents (TQ was on it), it seems as though not all stories have been bad ones.

TinyCo, a San Francisco based mobile game developer best known for their wildly popular games such as Tiny Zoo and Tiny Monsters announced earlier this week that they will be opening a studio in Vancouver in order to expand their mobile game development team.

The company will be looking to hire within Vancouver’s stock of developers, engineers and artists who will bring passion and technical know how to the successful company.

TinyCo recently raised an impressive Series A round of $18M led by VC powerhouse firm Andreessen Horowitz in order to expand internationally as well as throwing more resources behind its current operations.

One of the areas in which TinyCo has managed to display great success is in monetizing the freemium model of gaming on the Android platform, something that has been a challenge for many similar companies. The company has also been recognized as one of the mobile industries best developers by several publications, making it an enviable place to work for those in Vancouver.

The company is also realising fantastic growth on the iOS and Amazon platforms, making them a true mobile gaming company that can excel on various devices and operating systems. The company has set out the be the world’s largest mobile game developer, and it seems as if they are well on their way to do so.

We encourage all interested parties to keep an eye on TinyCo’s website and job posts.
