In their crusade to bring highly affordable service to Canadians, discount telco Mobilicity is expanding their unlimited zones around some of Canada’s largest cities. The announcement was made by company President and CEO Stewart Lyons who explained the company’s strategy up to and beyond this point in the following:

“We’ve spent the last year on network densification to provide a great network experience amidst tremendous growth in our existing service area. Now it’s time to expand outward and bring Mobilicity’s smart, affordable wireless service to more Canadians than ever”

Expansions are focused around the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), with Pickering, Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa being brought into the fray. To the west, Milton, Oakville, Burlington and Hamilton will have their increasing demand needs met as well. Ottawa’s expansion includes Barrhaven, Orleans and Cumberland County.

Unlimited networks will also be extended within the Greater Vancouver Area to White Rock, Pitt Meadows and the commuter corridor that exists between Surrey and Richmond. Edmonton won’t be left out, with coverage soon available around St. Albert and the area surrounding the airport.

All of the aforementioned expansions will be updated on Mobilicity’s coverage map as the services become available. The news comes on the heels of another company announcement, the upgrade of the HSPA+- enabled network to the required 4G by the end of the calendar year. This will open up Mobilicity to better quality devices, performance and download speeds along with a plethora of potential customers who are looking to shed their bulky monthly contracts with competing companies.
